1 More Day...to Hide
Yesterday as I was stopped at a red light, a bug landed on my windshield. When the light turned green, I watched as that little bug was tormented by the wind. His little wings caught air as he struggled to walk down the windshield. Each step was a battle, but he was determined. He ducked his head and tucked his wings. He eventually got behind the windshield wiper. He was safe. There was no wind. He found rest.
For the next 10 minutes, I watched as that little bug just rested behind the wiper. (And of course, I watched the road.) It was then that I busted out in laughter thinking how I relate to that little bug. Some days I feel life blowing me around and every step seems to be taken against the wind. I get tired. Life gets hard. Bills come. Phones ring. Money is short. Parents get sick. We get hurt. Jobs end. Children get cancer. And the wind keeps blowing. And the ride gets faster. And all we can do is hold on.
It's then, like that bug - we must find shelter. Psalms 32:7 says, "For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory." I love this picture of God's love. It's like He gets in front of us and puts his arms up not allowing us to be harmed.
Life is hard. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."
We will get through this. We will be victorious. Isn't that a beautiful picture? When we are in trouble, we can hide in Him as He sings over us. It reminds me of my daddy who used to wrap me up and sing to me as he rocked me to sleep. There was such a sense of safety there as I simply rested in his arms. Our Heavenly Father offers rest for the weary...for the windblown.
So what happened to that little bug? I pulled into the garage and turned off the car. It was then that little bug came out from under the wiper and flew off. Victory!
