1 More Day ... To Know He is With Us Always
My children have always made me laugh with their pure expressions of innocence. There was one time when my baby girl who was about five years old at the time taught me a very valuable lesson. She announced to the family that she needed to go to the bathroom and ran off to take care of business.
She was in there for quite a while when I decided to go check on her. She asked me to sit down with her and just talk. We had many bathroom conversations throughout the years so I didn't find this request unusual. However, as we talked she would squirm and hold her stomach as she clenched everything in her body.
This went on a couple times before I finally told her to just relax. She obviously needed to go #2 but would not relax and let it happen. Every time I told her to relax, she would begin to cry and tell me she couldn't. I didn't understand what she meant so I coaxed her through some relaxation techniques. She would have none of that.
Finally, after minutes of frustration for both of us my baby girl declared that she didn't want to go #2 because Jesus lived in her heart and if she went #2 she was afraid He would come out.
I was speechless. I tried to keep from laughing because my baby girl was serious. She went on to explain that she loved Jesus so much and wanted him to stay in her heart.
I gently took her hands that were underneath her bottom as to help hold everything in, and I assured her that Jesus would never leave her. When we believed in Him, He came to live in our hearts. He made a home there.
"That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith." Ephesians 3:17
We prayed and ...success!
I think of that day often... And smile. No matter how we may feel, we are never alone. He is with us. Christ is not merely outside of us, a Helper in our time of need, but He dwells in us, living in and with us all the time.
So we can relax 😉. He is here to stay.
